Commercial Cleaning in Chestnut Hill, MA

Facility services for Chestnut Hill's condominium buildings, HOA communities, and multifamily properties — spanning Newton, Brookline, and Boston.

One address. Three municipalities. One cleaning company that knows all of them.

Chestnut Hill is one of Greater Boston's most distinctive addresses — and one of its most complex. The enclave spans three cities, each in a different county: Brookline in Norfolk County, Boston in Suffolk County, and Newton in Middlesex County. Most properties share a single 02467 zip code, but the rules, regulations, and compliance obligations that apply to any given building depend entirely on which side of the municipal line it sits on.

That complexity matters for property managers. A building on the Newton side of Chestnut Hill falls under Newton's snow removal ordinances, landscaping regulations, and trash requirements. A building on the Brookline side follows Brookline's rules — including its gas-powered leaf blower restrictions and trash timing requirements. And a property within Boston's portion of Chestnut Hill is subject to Boston's site cleanliness permit requirements and bulk waste ordinances.

78-Clean serves properties across all three municipalities and our teams know which rules apply where. Whether your building sits in Newton, Brookline, or Boston, you'll have a partner who understands your specific compliance obligations — not a company that assumes one city's rules apply everywhere.

Buildings that set the standard for Greater Boston

Chestnut Hill is architecturally significant, known for stately houses on large lots. But Chestnut Hill isn't only grand single-family estates. Along Route 9 are many five-story and higher condo complexes, as well as The Towers — two 16-story condominium buildings near the Chestnut Hill Mall. The Towers of Chestnut Hill alone is a 423-unit luxury condominium complex on 17 acres of landscaped grounds, with a 24-hour doorman, heated indoor pool, fitness facilities, and community rooms. The historic Tudor Revival apartment building near Boston College, designed in 1899, has been a Chestnut Hill landmark for over a century. Hammond Gardens, the brick garden-apartment condominiums originally built for returning WWII servicemen, represent yet another layer of the neighborhood's building history.

Each of these building types carries its own maintenance standard — and in Chestnut Hill, those standards are high. Residents and owners here chose this address deliberately, and they notice when common areas aren't right, when grounds aren't maintained to the level the neighborhood demands, or when a vendor doesn't understand the expectations that come with the territory.

78-Clean has been working in Chestnut Hill's building stock for nearly 50 years. We bring the same level of care to a garden apartment complex on Hammond Pond Parkway as we do to the lobby of a high-rise on Route 9.

Know the rules. Chestnut Hill spans three sets of them.

Compliance in Chestnut Hill is more complex than almost anywhere else in Greater Boston because the same street can fall under different municipal jurisdictions. Here's a summary of what applies by municipality:

Newton properties

Snow must be cleared within 24 hours after a storm ends for residential properties, and within 12 hours for properties within Newton's business districts. Gas-powered leaf blowers are banned from Memorial Day through Labor Day. As of July 2024, mandatory single-stream recycling applies to all properties including multifamily and commercial buildings.

Brookline properties

Snow must be cleared within 3 hours of a storm's end for commercial properties and multifamily buildings with five or more units. Gas-powered leaf blowers are banned May 16 through September 30 and January 1 through March 14. Trash carts must be returned by midnight on collection day.

Boston properties

Snow must be cleared within 3 hours of a storm's end. Buildings with six or more units require a Site Cleanliness Permit from Boston's Inspectional Services Department. Recycling is mandatory for all large residential buildings, and bulk item disposal must be scheduled through BOS:311 — leaving furniture curbside without a scheduled pickup is an illegal dumping violation.

78-Clean's teams are compliant across all three municipalities. You don't need to know which rules apply to your building — we do.
